Oral Surgery

Paradise Dental Care we perform few oral surgery procedures such as: simple and surgical extractions, bone grafts, tooth crown lengthening. However, in some cases we will have to refer you to the Oral Surgeon.  Depending on the nature of your visit, we may require digital imaging scans to assist us in our treatment planning.

Medical history and consent forms can take several minutes to fill out, increasing the time spent in the waiting room. Why do I need a referral to the oral surgeon?

In some cases such as impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, jaw surgery, oral pathology or if you prefer to have a sedation for your procedure we will refer you to an Oral Surgeon.  

Can Dr. Kendall Jones take my wisdom teeth out?

As a general dentist Dr. Jones is qualified to perform wisdom teeth extractions. However, we prefer to refer our patients to the oral surgeon, due to complications which can arise with the wisdom teeth removal. Oral surgeon is a specialist who spend additional 4 to 6 years of training in hospital-based residency program. Oral surgeons also perform majority of their surgical procedures using general anesthesia.                 

What kind of sedation does Dr. Jones offers?

There are 4 different types of dental sedation available: nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation and general anesthesia. At the Paradise Dental Care, we offer the oral sedation, which is basically a medication such as Valium. However, for the patients with high level of anxiety IV sedation or general anesthesia may be a better option. IV sedation and General Anesthesia usually offered by the oral surgeon.
